The mystical breed…the Lusitano. Many may ask why the Lusitano? The breed as a whole are very agile, athletic, and versatile. Most have a very sound mind and love their job. They have strong feet and are easy keepers.
The ancestors of the Lusitano are where the myth of the centaur originated. When invaders came to the Iberian Peninsula and saw these agile, fearless horse and riders they believed them to be one being. They had never witnessed a horse move like that, or riders who could ride like these.
Around Napoleon’s time he threatened to wipe out the entire herd of horses. The herd was split into two herds. The part that were in Andalusia Spain then became known as the Andalusian. The herd that was sent to Portugal became known as the Lusitano.

Lessons
WOW Equestrian offers a comprehensive lesson program that will enable a student to understand how to interact with their horse both on the ground and in the a saddle and confidently ride at any level. Tricia Simpson is a gifted instructor who uses biomechanics and an intuitive knowledge of what the rider is feeling to teach all levels, from first-time riders to serious dressage and jumping competitors. Most students bring their own horse for their lessons but WOW Equestrian does have several horses that can be used in lessons and the Lusitano stallions can be ridden by more experienced riders. WOW Equestrian offers lessons to a wide range of riders. Beginners through advanced riders will find an inviting, safety focused atmosphere with an emphasis on correct horsemanship. WOW Equestrian has well trained lesson horses available for students to ride in their lesson. All lessons will include the rider preparing their horse by grooming and saddling, with supervision according to the riders experience level. WOW Equestrian believes that teaching classical horsemanship is becoming a lost art. The relationship between the horse and rider begins on the ground with hands on time spent connecting with each other.
Approved riding helmets are required of all students and we have helmets available for first time riders. Purchasing your own helmet is recommended for riders who ride regularly. Below there is a section titled Merchandise. You will see links there to purchase breeches, helmets, along with other necessary items.

Reinando Rei is a party animal! He loves to have stall parties! When we have a foal (baby horse) on the ground, the time is used to meet/pet and educate everyone on horses. When we do not have a foal, the stall parties take all forms. Most times leading horses through obtacles! Come out and join the fun. Please wear closed toed shoes as you will be handling and or brushing/petting the horses! When you click the Stall Party picture above it will take you to a June 2026 Stall Party video on YouTube! Admission: $5/Person or $10/Family. Veteran’s, current lesson students, and App subscribers attend for FREE! The next Stall Party will be on: TBD.
