Want to reach the top? Find a great coach! http://wowequestrian.com/want-to-reach-the-top-find-a-great-coach/ http://wowequestrian.com/want-to-reach-the-top-find-a-great-coach/#respond Mon, 29 May 2017 14:17:53 +0000 http://wowequestrian.com/?p=1317 How many sports do you know that are played without a coach?  From tee ball up through college and into professional sports one common denominator is the coach!  Coaches help players to understand the sport they have chosen through physical practice of skills and repetition.  Coaches teach us how to be safe and how to prevent injuries. Coaches give us confidence and push us to improve at just the right time.  Horse sports have an even greater need for competent professional coaches. Training people to sit atop a 1000 + pound animal and develop the skill and confidence to perform with that animal takes an experienced and knowledgeable coach.

Horse sports require physical practice but with different equipment than a tennis racket or basketball. Riders must learn to work as part of a team with their horse and who better than a coach to train a team!  A good horse coach will help riders to work at a comfortable pace to develop skills that increase their riding ability and keep them safe.  Would you allow your elementary age baseball player to play in a major league game?  No!  The skills are not there and the safety risk is too high. So why do people think it is ok to throw a saddle on a friends horse and try to ride if you have no experience?  Many physical injuries and even more emotional injuries happen when inexperienced riders try to ride without a competent coach. Start riding regularly under the watchful eye of a trusted coach and you will reach your goals safely and with a level of confidence that will be yours for a lifetime.

Carob http://wowequestrian.com/carob/ http://wowequestrian.com/carob/#respond Thu, 25 May 2017 02:40:19 +0000 http://wowequestrian.com/?p=1312 Carob, a bay Thoroughbred mare, was an intricate part of our lesson program. She was the perfect match for the inexperienced rider or for those who need confidence in their riding skills! Born in 1990 she still enjoyed taking students to shows and jumping up until the day she died. A true adventure for the beginner or seasoned rider alike! Carob went over the Rainbow Bridge on January 18, 2014. The amount of heart this horse had was simply amazing…giving every rider the confidence to reach their own individual goals! We are all cheering you on as you race around heaven’s horse track!

If you had the honor of riding Carob, please share your memories below. If you have pictures you wish to have included on Carob’s memorial page, please e-mail them to: Info@WOWEquestrian.com.

Indiana Dexter http://wowequestrian.com/indiana-dexter/ http://wowequestrian.com/indiana-dexter/#respond Thu, 25 May 2017 01:49:17 +0000 http://wowequestrian.com/?p=1298

Indiana Dexter was a Percheron/Thoroughbred Gelding born in 1985 in Erwinna, Pennsylvania. He successfully evented through Intermediate Level and he was shown through Third Level Dressage. He loved his job of teaching students all about Dressage and Jumping. The decision was made 06-09-13 to euthanize Indiana Dexter (Akron, Indiana). May the lessons you taught be learned, the dreams/visions you saw be manifested, and your love be felt by all! Trot on Sir.

If you had the honor/privilege of riding Indiana Dexter please leave your memories below. Thanks! If you have pictures you wish to be included on Dexter’s memory wall, please e-mail them to: Info@WOWEquestrian.com. Thanks!

Senhor Do Top http://wowequestrian.com/senhor-do-top/ http://wowequestrian.com/senhor-do-top/#respond Mon, 22 May 2017 05:54:51 +0000 http://wowequestrian.com/?p=1283

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform all of the loss of Lusitano Stallion Senhor Do Top. He was foaled in Brazil 08/09/98 and died very suddenly and unexpectedly on May 16, 2017 at WOW Equestrian (Marion, IN). For those who feel led we will be doing a Horses as Healers meeting in loving memory of Senhor Do Top Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 7pm at WOW Equestrian. May your royal soulful eyes keep watch from above and your whinny dance, as only you could do it Sir, continue on center stage in Heaven.

Please feel free to leave your memories of Senhor Do Top below. If you have pictures of Senhor Do Top you wish to have included on his memorial wall please send them to: Info@wowequestrian.com.

Senhor Do Top was an exceptional stallion in professional training. He was ridden and shown regularly by amateurs. He was imported from Brazil in 2005. His gentle demeanor and perfect manners, coupled with exceptionally smooth and easy gaits makes him an amateur riders dream. Senhor was well schooled in shoulder-in, haunches-in, half-pass at trot and canter, and had a big extended trot. He was schooling piaffe, passage and flying changes. Senhor was calm and confident at shows, in the open and on trails. He could be ridden alone or in a group, even mares do not take his focus off of his rider. He has schooled up to 2’6″ jumps in the ring and cross country field. He was easy to trailer (can trailer with mares as well as or better than most geldings!) He had great feet, and is good for the farrier. No vices whatsoever. Temperament: 2 (1 Bombproof, 10 Hot) Registered PSL imported Lusitano Stallion: Sire: Visqueiro. Dam: Andorinha.
